I have been doing this for over 20 years. I have watched content marketing go from a nice-to-have to the thing that determines whether a business gets found or gets ignored. And I will be honest with you: 2026 is the most interesting and most frustrating year I have seen for content. Interesting because the tools are incredible. Frustrating because most brands are using those tools to produce more of the same mediocre content that nobody reads.

The brands I see winning right now are not the ones publishing the most. They are the ones publishing things that actually matter. Original research, genuine expertise, content that earns citations inside AI Overviews and LLM responses, and blog posts that feel like they were written by someone who has actually lived through the problem they are describing.

That is a hard thing to do at scale without the right team or the right agency behind you.

According to Siege Media's 2026 content marketing research, 86% of content marketers are now outsourcing at least some of their strategy.
